Why are certain writing projects such a pain?

There are many situations in life that require writing skills such as getting a job, applying for college and promoting a business. But let’s just be honest, these types of writing projects can be frustrating and sometimes down right painful.

But why does this type of writing have to be so difficult?

There are two main reasons. First, very few of us learned these types of writing skills. School covers a lot of ground, but often practical life skills fall to the wayside in order to prep students for standardized tests and multiple choice exams.

The second reason can be captured with one word: pressure! There is so much riding on the perfect cover letter, a strong personal essay and clear business messaging. Successfully executing these writing projects can lead to landing the job you want, being accepted at the school of your choice and attracting new clients to your business.

Of course, there are other factors at play in all of these situations, but there is no denying that sometimes great writing can make all the difference.
